Defence and Weapon Systems is responsible for, among other things, weapon systems, air surveillance-related products, and drones, as well as their sales, offering, and deliveries.

Purchasing and Logistics Manager (Operations, Defence and Weapon Systems)

to join our team in Tampere.

Position Overview

Our Defence and Weapon System business area production environments depend on reliable purchasing of components, efficient logistics coordination, and strict compliance with international trade regulations.

To support our DWS operational growth, we are looking for a highly hands-on and performance-driven Purchasing and Logistics Manager to ensure uninterrupted supply chain and material flow, optimized inbound and outbound logistics.

Purchasing and Logistics Manager is responsible for operational procurement as well as leading a team of purchasers. This is a key operational managerial role directly impacting production continuity and our business performance.

This role ensures:

  • Continuous material availability for production

  • Efficient and on-time purchasing execution and purchase orderbook control and follow-up including forwarding activities

  • Effective leadership of the purchasing and logistics

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, components and sub-assemblies

  • Active communication and collaboration with related component suppliers

  • Work closely with Production Planning to align purchasing with MRP requirements

  • Support to evaluate supplier performance (quality, delivery reliability, cost)

  • Optimize inventory levels, material flows and working capital performance

  • Improve master data quality, system utilization and process discipline

  • Drives continuous improvement and capability development within team

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced purchasing professional with previous experience in managing a team and handling operative purchasing activities. You thrive in a fast-paced and growing environment. You have excellent co-operation skills and you are able to motivate your team to great results. You enjoy working in a hands-on role where you are an active member of your team.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, industrial management, logistics or business

  • Electronics supply chain and manufacturing knowledge

  • Hands-on leadership style with operational focus

  • Strong communication skills in Finnish and English

Key Competencies:

  • Strong managerial and leadership skills

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems in a production environment

  • Able to use analytics and business intelligence to support decision-making

  • Experience of production lean principles and electronics manufacturing
