Patria SHIFTR hardware: train like you operate

Patria SHIFTR’s XR simulator trains commanders, drivers, and gunners for rapid, effective tactical communication. It includes three integrated training stations featuring:

  • Varjo XR-4 headsets: Full crew immersion with the integration of real-life objects into a dynamic 3D environment.
  • Smart masking capabilities: Let trainees interact physically or virtually with key controls – allowing seamless simulation of weapon systems like Kongsberg.

An Instructor Station gives full control over session management – including scenario injects and realtime monitoring. After training, After-Action Review (AAR) tools enable detailed analysis,  discussion, and presentation support, with options for repeated deep-dive reviews to accelerate learning.

Thanks to XR technology, Patria SHIFTR’s footprint is compact and modular. Built around the widely used VBS4 software, it is plug-and-play ready – meaning it integrates easily into existing classrooms and can expand scenarios to include infantry units for platoon-level coordination.

Effective communication demands full situational awareness – knowing what’s happening, inside and out, in real-time. Patria SHIFTR’s software suite trains and tracks that awareness with precision.

Each XR-4 headset features integrated eye-tracking and pointer functionality, allowing instructors to:

  • Monitor where each trainee is focusing – live and in real-time.
  • Intervene instantly if attention drifts.
  • Record sessions, providing undeniable proof of what was observed, when, and by whom – strengthening debriefs and analysis.

To further enhance training, Patria offers the optional HEAT (Hazardous Environment Awareness Training) analytics system.
