The Patria NEMO mortar system offers the ability to fire while moving, which helps maintain effectiveness, protects the crew, and allows operations to continue in any environment.
The pace of modern warfare continues to accelerate. Enhanced capabilities in detection, identification, and targeting have resulted in mortar systems being rapidly exposed after firing. To ensure operational survivability, platforms must be capable of repositioning immediately following discharge or, preferably, engaging targets while in motion.
To survive, platforms must shoot and scoot - or better yet, fire while moving.

Fire-On-the-Move (FOM): Advanced ballistic calculations account for vehicle movement, keeping the system locked on target while on the move
Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI): Up to five rounds fired at different angles to strike the target almost simultaneously
Multiple Targets Simultaneous Impact (MTSI): Fire up to five rounds at multiple targets within seconds apart for maximum disruption
Direct fire mode: Low elevation firing enables quick response and precise targeting - including urban scenarios like shooting through windows
The combination of these qualities makes Patria NEMO one of the most lethal and flexible mortar systems on the modern battlefield.
Built-in survivability
Patria NEMO is designed not only for delivering firepower but also for safeguarding its crew. Thanks to its turreted setup, operators remain fully protected inside the vehicle at all times. This eliminates the need to open hatches, keeping the crew safe from harsh weather, hazardous gases, shrapnel, or muzzle blast noise and pressure.
Ammunition safety is a key aspect of the Patria NEMO system. Each round is individually stored in a dedicated tube, ensuring that if the charge of one round ignites, fire and gases are vented safely through an external chimney, preventing crew exposure and containing the risk of secondary explosions.
Recognizing the importance of personnel, and no crew means no mission, Patria NEMO is designed for safety and comfort - increasing mission success by preserving the team behind the system.
Modularity for any mission
Lethality and survivability are essential factors across all domains, and the Patria NEMO mortar system offers true modular capabilities. Its ammunition storage is modular, allowing for flexible layouts tailored to mission requirements. Additionally, the ballistic calculator and turret control system can be integrated into a wide variety of Patria and non-Patria platforms, enhancing adaptability.
