Patria and Slovakia have updated their earlier agreement on Patria AMV XP 8x8 vehicles to further strengthen their cooperation. The revised agreement includes, among other things, a new delivery timeline to boost the deliveries for the Slovak BOV 8x8 armoured vehicle programme. Local production of the vehicles is well underway, strengthening Slovakia’s industrial capability and securing sustained manufacturing capacity.
“We are pleased to have updated our agreement with the Slovak Ministry of Defence through close and constructive cooperation. While the details remain confidential, the agreement secures the continued delivery of our armoured vehicles to the Slovak Armed Forces. By this important step we achieved balanced terms and conditions for both sides. We thank Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia and Minister of Defence Robert Kaliňák and the Slovak Ministry of Defence for their excellent collaboration and commitment throughout the process, which strengthens local industrial capability, security of supply and long-term readiness,” says Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area.
A comprehensive government-to-government (G2G) agreement was signed in 2022 by the Government of the Slovak Republic, the Government of Finland and Patria for Slovakia’s acquisition of 76 armoured combat vehicles (ACVs), comprising 60 infantry fighting vehicles, 10 ambulance vehicles and 6 command post vehicles. Patria completed the deliveries of the ambulance vehicles to Slovakia in May in Lieskovec. The updated agreement supports and accelerates the deliveries of infantry fighting vehicles.
Technology transfer is a central part of Patria’s business model, in which armoured vehicle manufacturing expertise is transferred to local partners. This improves security of supply, strengthens Slovakia’s own industry, and provides a strategic competitive advantage. Patria AMV XP 8x8 is a market leading, state-of-the-art, modular and robust armoured vehicle providing superior fire power, protection, and mobility.
