Patria and NestAI have entered a technology partnership to bring adaptive artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to unmanned systems for European defence forces. The partnership pairs Patria's unmanned aerial systems with NestOS and NestAI's adaptive operating system, combining state of the art AI and a world-class defence platform in one system.

European armed forces are boosting their investments in unmanned systems. In today’s warfare, equipping those systems with the intelligence to operate in contested, fast-changing environments requires AI, built for real-world conditions. The partnership brings together these two companies to deliver that capability from within Europe's own industrial and technology base: Patria's drone platform and operational reach and expertise in unmanned systems, combined with NestAI's adaptive intelligence capabilities and open and modular operating system for modern battlefield operations.

"The war in Ukraine helps us better understand what warfare looks like now and in the future. As a forerunning defence and technology company, we always want to look ahead in our product development, ensuring critical operations - when if is not an option. Our unmanned systems are built for the most demanding conditions in Europe. With NestAI’s AI capabilities, we can make them more intelligent and more effective for the operators who depend on them," says Panu Routila, President and CEO of Patria.

"European defence needs AI for modern battlefield operations: adaptive, sovereign, and designed to evolve after deployment. And it needs to be built in Europe, by Europeans, for European operational requirements. This partnership combines Patria’s experience in unmanned aerial systems and the adaptive AI capabilities of NestOS to deliver for the modern battlefield," says Peter Sarlin, founder and chairman of NestAI.

NestAI develops adaptive intelligence for defence and security environments where systems must adapt to changing conditions in real time. Patria’s unmanned systems offering is part of its Defence and Weapon systems business area, including Patria drones.
